Obsession Racing Press Release 2011 #6

MENIFEE, CA – On June 8th Rick started his 1,200 mile journey to Missoula Montana for the first of two weekends for WHR Motorsports Events. Rick made it to Montana on Thursday, just in time to tire up both trucks before he picked up Eric and his friend Kaya from the airport. Eric’s last day of school was on Thursday and he had finals to take. Eric liked flying in much better than the long haul that Dad had to make!! On Friday morning Rick and Eric did the Missoula Channel 8 news media. The media was used to promote the Friday and Saturday night show. You can view this interview on You Tube under World’s Youngest Monster Truck Driver Eric Swanson. It was a really nice interview and we encourage everyone to check it out. Friday night went very well. Rick won racing and Eric set the bar high as he was sent out first in the freestyle competition. Eric launched over the stack of vans with ease and Dad whipped his usual killer donuts and you could tell by the crowd’s response! On Saturday night Eric made it to the Semi finals against his Dad, but Rick took the win for his second night in a row. They also put on another great freestyle and the crowd commented on how great of a driver Eric is for his age!

The following weekend event for WHR Motorsports was in Roseburg Oregon. This event was also a Friday and Saturday night show. Friday night was a repeat of the previous Friday as Rick was on a winning streak in racing. The lucky streak continued as we didn’t have any mechanical issues with the monster trucks! It was nice to be able to park and enjoy the rest of the evening. On Saturday morning we gave the chance to Free Style Motocross rider Keith Sayers to pilot the Obsession Monster Truck. Keith is filming some high light reels that will be airing on ESPN really soon. He commented that is was a lot of fun to drive and an experience he will never forget! For the Saturday evening show Rick winning streak was broken by our son Eric in the Semi finals. Even though Rick was bummed he lost, he was proud of Eric’s win!! Double trouble took the win against Eric in the finals. In freestyle the boys put on another great show that brought the crowd to their feet! We would like to thank Kaya Gladu, Big Joe in Missoula, and everybody who helped to make this trip a success!

Our next show will be held at the San Diego State Fair for WGAS Motorsports July 1, 2, & 3rd with Eric and Rick driving Obsessed and Obsession. We look forward to seeing you there!

Obsession Racing Press Release 2011 #5

MENIFEE, CA – Our Mothers Day weekend started out on Thursday the 5th of May doing displays for Les Schwab and Driven in door go kart track to promote the WGAS Motorsports Santa Rosa California event. Both Monster Trucks were on display at Les Schwab from 9:00am to 5:00pm and then Obsession was wide loaded over to the Driven in door kart track to be on display from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. All of the drivers got to spend two hours racing their go karts with the fans. The fans got a chance to win free tickets for the Monster Truck show held on Saturday and Sunday. The show was a freestyle show that consisted of five trucks. Unfortunately Eric was unable to drive his truck at this event because it interfered with school and testing. Jeff Jones who normally drives for us also had prior commitments and couldn’t drive. We were fortunate enough to have Jimmy Lehnertz pilot Obsession for us and once again he did an awesome job! Rick drove Obsessed and the show was very successful and was sold out both nights! We want to give special thanks Tom Lehnertz and Tom Tom for all of their help throughout the weekend!!

The following weekend was held in Salinas California for Monster Jam. This event was booked in for only one truck. Rick was planning on taking Obsession but ended up taking Obsessed. All trucks for this event go on display in front of the complex on the Thursday before the show on Sunday. In all of the years that Rick has been there, it has never rained. The year he missed in 2006 it down poured! With the threat of rain and the forecast calling for rain Rick was hoping to keep his luck alive! There was a down pour on Saturday night and a few sprinkles on Sunday morning and by 1:00pm they had nothing but sunshine and blue skies! He’s hoping it was his presents that made it happen! The show turned out to be a success and Rick made it to the semi finals in racing. Unfortunately his freestyle was cut short about have way through when he went off the huge jump and broke the right rear hub off of the truck! But the crowd always likes destruction so they were cheering big time! The track officials towed the truck to the corner of the arena so the show could continue without delays. After the show a lot of the audience stood around because they saw Rick get back into the truck with no wheel and drive it off of the floor. We want to give a big thanks to Ryan, Steve, and Mark and the Pendleton family for all of their help since Rick was solo at this event.

On May 21st Obsessed did a display for a Jiffy Lube grand opening in Wildomar, California. This display was set up through TX7 that is a sponsor of ours and a main supplier of product to Jiffy Lube. The Monster Truck was a huge success for their grand opening! The kids really enjoyed being able to get up close and sit up in a real racing Monster Truck! Eric, Jeff and Rick were all there to sign autographs. Eric had to leave a little early because he was racing his dirt bike later on that day. It ended up being a great day! The Grand Opening was a big success and Eric also took first place in his motor cross race!

Our next event will be for WHR Motorsports in Missoula, Montana on June 10th and 11th. Eric will be driving for this event since school will be out for the summer.

Obsession Racing Press Release 2011 #4

MENIFEE, CA – The month of March was a busy for Obsession Racing. It was consumed by maintaining the Monster Trucks and preparing them for show quality for our Las Vegas display and upcoming events. Both trucks had body work done and were re-wrapped to make them look new again. The hard work and maintenance paid off as they put us on display in entrance for all eyes to see. Eric had a big turn out of people interested in seeing the Worlds Youngest Monster truck driver and they were excited to get his autograph. It was amazing that such a vast majority of people had already heard and seen Eric through, internet, youtube and etc. We were very proud of the group of fans that he has already acquired! As always, it was great to see our fans, friends and family. It was also nice to be able to spend a little more time with them during the full day of the autograph session.

Our next event after Vegas was held in Irwindale California on April 2nd. Eric was excited and honored that he would be able to drive in this event. This was Eric’s first event of this year. He did an awesome job as he was put up against Jimmy Createn in Bounty hunter in his first round of racing. Rick didn’t get a chance to be up against his son, but he did do a good job in racing also. Since they didn’t get a chance to race each other, the competition was in freestyle. Eric managed to bump out Dad by a couple points. Eric had a good time in freestyle. He didn’t want to quit! He did some great donuts and caught some huge air! It was a good night for all! We also want to give a special thanks to Michael Gritzkie, Tom Read, and Jeff Jones for helping crew for Obsession Racing. David Smith and Daron Basl from Flame Motorsports was also a big help and they towed our trailer to and from the show for us. Daron Basl stayed with us in between shows and as a big help to us and was always willing to lend a hand when we needed it!

After Irwindale California we headed to Fresno California on April 15th, 16th and 17th for a Monster Jam Event. Due to prior commitments Jeff Jones was unable to drive Obsession. Rick had asked Jimmy Lehnertz to drive Obsession in place of Jeff for this weekend. Jimmy said he would drive and was looking forward to getting behind the wheel again in a Monster Truck. This was a very busy weekend having three shows in one weekend. Jimmy looked great driving Obsession! I guess it’s just like riding a bike. He looked and said he felt very comfortable behind the wheel and it showed! He even managed to take out Rick in racing. Unfortunately we had some rear steering issues with Obsession, but Jimmy was still able to put on an awesome show for the crowd. In Obsessed we had to change a transmission on Friday night but that didn’t stop rick from putting on a strong show for the rest of the weekend! We would like to thank Jimmy and his Father Tom for all of the hard work and Mike and Rob for crewing and helping out the Obsession Racing Team!
