Obsession Racing Press Release 2010 #9

MENIFEE, CA – Over Fathers Day weekend an our wedding Anniversary we did an event for WHR Motorsports in Missoula Montana, which was held on June 18th and 19th. Fathers Day and our Anniversary are very emotional days for us as Rick’s father had passed away on those two days. Having to race on these days Rick competed with all of his heart to win racing/freestyle in honor of his Father and also for our Anniversary. He managed to full fill his wish as he won racing and did an awesome free style which I am sure made his Dad proud. I was also pleased to have him win on our Anniversary! It was a very special gift that you could not purchase! Eric also got to work the track with the tuff trucks for the first time. He did a great job and had a lot of fun.

From Missoula Rick and Eric drove to Albuquerque New Mexico for a benefit show for the Tingly Children’s Hospital. I flew to tend to the house and dog until I found out that they wanted Eric to do the event. Of course I wanted to be there to see Eric run for his first time of racing! I booked a plane ticket and flew there to meet them. The event was for two days held on June 25th and 26th. Eric did an incredible job!! It was like he had been driving for years. Friday night he had a wheelie competition and won! Then he got the fastest qualifying time and made it to the semi finals. He freestyle was cut short by an electrical problem that we were able to fix for the show the next night. On Saturday night he got 2nd place in the wheelie competition and made it to the finals with Ben Winslow in the Cult Energy drink truck. He was unable to freestyle because his driveshaft broke in his final round of racing. The crow totally enjoyed seeing Eric perform and couldn’t believe he was only 14 and how well he handled truck! Everyone was stopping him and asking for autographs and pictures with him on his through the stands. Rick and I are so very proud of him and enjoyed every minute of his success!

We would also like to thank our friends Lisa and Morley for their hospitality and taking care of us in Albuquerque!

MENIFEE, CA – The month of May has been a very busy month, although we only had two weekends of racing, we have spent every other day working on our new 53’ trailer. Our first event for May was the Monster Jam event in Salinas California. Racing was on Sunday the 16th and our displays started the 13th and 14th held on Main Street. Saturday we had a 5 hour long pit party/autograph session that was out in front of the venue. This was open to the public for anyone to attend. Rick went through a couple of rounds in racing and met up with Pat Gerber in Shocker. Pat was on a mission to win and in the final round his battery cable came off and cost him his victory. For freestyle Rick was the fifth truck out and was the first one to go off of the big jumps which brought the crowd to their feet.

From Salinas California we headed to Fischer’s Towing in Grass Valley California where we were able to leave our truck and trailer. This way Rick could fly home in between events. We want to give a special thanks to Ron and Debbie Fischer for all of the help and support they give us. Our next event was in Monroe Washington for WHR Motorsports that held 2 events over Memorial weekend. On Saturday night it was a very tricky course due to the fact that it was on asphalt with dirt ramps with rainy weather. Rick won racing and wooed the crowd with his awesome donuts in freestyle. For the Sunday show it was Rick and David in King Krunch in the finals for racing. This was one of the times where qualifying time is in your favor for lane choice. David qualified first and Rick qualified second. This gave David land choice and also the win. Rick once again did a great crowd pleasing freestyle for all of the Monroe fans!

Our next event will be held in Missoula Montana for WHR Motorsports.

MENIFEE, CA –After the Las Vegas show Daron Basl with Flame motorsports headed home with us. We wanted to make our shop available for him so that he could repair their trucks and get them ready for the next show that we all had booked for Fresno California. We enjoyed having him here and have adopted him so that Eric can have an older brother to share his chores with. He stayed with us over the Easter Holiday. Knowing how hard it must be to be away from family and his girlfriend for so long, we hoped to make him feel at home while he was with us.

On Thursday, April 15th Gary Schott Jr. met Daron at our house as he became a new member of the Flame Motorsports crew. Daron and Gary followed Rick and I to Fresno and we actually met up with Aaron Basl (Daron’s twin) hauling Grave Digger and the Turtle truck on the road. It was really hard to tell over the CB which twin was talking, but after spending a lot of time with Daron we finally can tell the difference between the two!

Fresno had three shows, Friday and Saturday night and an afternoon show on Sunday. We decided to run the Obsession truck because we knew that Sunday afternoon would be a great opportunity to get photos of the Obsession with its new wrap design. Friday night Rick did an awesome job in Obsession. The old truck took him all the way up to the finals. Saturday night we had some difficulties with the transmission but Rick worked on it Saturday night and changed the transmission and got it at 110% for Sunday. Sunday afternoon the old Obsession once again took him to the finals. He had an awesome freestyle but when the low scores came from the judges it was great to hear the fans screaming out their Boo’s showing them that Rick deserved a much better score!

We are look forward to our next Monster Jam event in Salinas California to put on a great show in Obsessed for all of our Californians.
