Obsession Racing Press Release 2009 #13

press.release.2009.11.30.a

MENIFEE, CA – As 2009 draws to an end we were able to get one more event and one more display in before the trucks get torn down for maintenance and prep for the New Year. Our last event for 2009 was in Redmond Oregon for WHR Motorsports. This was the first time WHR Motorsports has been in Redmond with Monster Trucks. Redmond was a success for both WHR Motorsports and Obsession Racing. Rick did a great job of piloting his truck to the finals. It was a great field of trucks and drivers. Daron drove Bounty Hunter, Joe in Iron Outlaw, Gary Jr. in Jurassic Attack, and Don in Manic. Everyone did a really great job and the fans kept commenting on how much better it was then the last show that they had seen. On the way to Oregon Rick and Jeff met up with Daron and Joe in Northern California to travel together since the weather conditions were tough. Three hours after they met they were parked on the side of the road due to an accident that closed the road for 3 and a half hours. This is where the four of them got to hang out and heat up some grub and listen to all of the other drivers over the cb with their brilliant idea of having the monster truck guys pull out their monsters and drive across the snow. They did make it their safe and sound but was happy to see the California sunshine when they returned to home.

Our last display of the year was for a 5 year old boy named Brock’s Birthday Party. His Mother and Rick had been planning his party for a couple of months. The whole party was a Monster truck theme, but what the Birthday Boy didn’t know was that he was getting a special appearance from both Rick and Eric with the Obsessed Monster truck. Rick and Eric and Jeff’s son Bailey (how Jeff got out of it we’ll never know) tired up the truck at the neighbors place and Eric drove the truck down to the party and the Birthday Boy had a surprise of his life. He was so thrilled to see a real live Monster truck at his house! It was a great was to end the year!

We are looking forward to 2010 and appreciate all of the help and support of so many people. Obsession Racing wishes everyone and blessed Christmas and a prosperous New Year!

MENIFEE, CA – On October 9th and 10th was the debut of Obsession Racing’s newest part time driver. Six days after Eric Swanson’s 14th Birthday he was piloting Obsessed in front of a packed house at the Southern California Fair in Perris, CA. The crowd was excited and in awe to see his awesome driving abilities. After the event some of the best compliments to Eric were how surprised they were for someone Eric’s age that could handle and maneuver the truck as well as someone who has been in this profession for years (or even better). When Eric was driving his truck Obsessed, Jeff Jones piloted Obsession so Rick could be on the floor with Eric for the first time. We were very proud of both drivers. Jeff caught some big air and managed pop a barrier tire onto its wheel and go for a ride. Luckily it stayed in its boundaries! On the last show Saturday night the fans got to see Rick and Eric perform for their first time together. This brought the crowd cheering on their feet for their home town boys! None of this would have been possible without John Borba from WGAS Motorsports giving Eric the opportunity and having the confidence in him to run his show. We also want to thank Frank Schettini for giving Eric the opportunity to practice driving at his ranch for this show. Of course we also have to give a big thanks to Jeff Jones for ALWAYS stepping in and helping us out when we need him and John Adams and Joe Miller (Iron Outlaw driver) for help keeping the trucks running all weekend.

The first week of November we headed to the SEMA show in Las Vegas, NV. We had a great time catching up with all of our current sponsors and even meeting some new sponsors for the upcoming years. We felt that attending this show was successful for Obsession Racing.

Our next event is in Redmond Oregon on November 13th and 14th with WHR Motorsports. This will be our last event for the year as we are going to be preparing both trucks and trailer for 2010.

Obsession Racing Press Release 2009 #11

press.release.2009.10.07.a

MENIFEE, CA- On September 22nd we received a call from the production company that is producing the new Bud Light commercial. They wanted to use one of our monster trucks. They wanted to create a blue monster truck that blasts through a fence to deliver the new Bud Light spokes person “Dave”. This turned into being a very interesting commercial for all of the engineering that had to be done to the truck for how they wanted to present the commercial. We filmed it at Universal Studios at the house that they used in the movie Hancock. We hoping to see it air some time later this year. So when you see the Bud Light commercial that is the original Obsession truck.

The first weekend in October we had three major events happen for Obsession Racing. First was our son Eric turning 14 years old and the second thing was that it was the first time Obsession Racing had both Obsession and Obsessed competing at the same event. Thirdly it was the first time for our second driver Jeff Jones to race side by side. One of Eric’s Birthday presents was that he got to race Randy Smallwood Jr.’s tough truck. He had a fun time driving and we want to give him special thanks for giving Eric that opportunity and the track officials that allowed it. Eric also got to have some fun in his trophy cart in front of the fans.

The weekend started off as normal the rookie driver “Jeff” would end up facing Grave Digger all weekend long in racing. Watching his video on Saturday night the call could have went either way. We were very proud of Jeff’s driving ability. Rick drove Obsessed even though it has the smaller motor Ricks driving abilities would take it to the semi finals each time against Maximum Destruction. That’s when Toms horsepower over ruled. Both trucks performed extremely well in freestyle. Jeff was the second truck out in freestyle and did an awesome job! On Sunday freestyle he caught the biggest air of the day! (It’s got to be the truck) I think the jump was a big surprise to Jeff, but we couldn’t be prouder to have him on our team!

Our next event is October 16th and 17th at the Southern California Fair in Perris, California. This will be three shows, one on Friday and two on Saturday. Eric will be debuting in his truck Obsessed for freestyle! Don’t miss it!
