MENIFEE, CA – The last two weeks of August put us at the Josephine County Fair in Grants Pass, OR and the Evergreen State Fair in Monroe, WA. The Josephine County Fair celebrated its thirty years of Motorsports. The show was set up as a two night show. One night for tractor pulling and the other night was tough trucks. Both nights ended with the Fabtech Obsession closing the show. In all of the thirty years Grants Pass, OR has never seen a car stack for an obstacle even with them having trucks such Big Foot and Grave Digger in years past. On Saturday night the Fabtech Obsession was the first truck in the Fairs history to jump over a car stack. We had a great time in Grants Pass,OR. We would like to thank Randy and Sherry Smallwood and all of the rest of the crew for such a great time. Rick even got to meet Charlie Daniels and had his picture taken with him next to his truck. Rick stated that it wasn’t an event; it was a “happening”.

From Oregon he went to Monroe Washington. This was a two night event held on Thursday and Friday with nine trucks competing for WHR Motorsports. Thursday night we made it to the semi finals. It was a hard line of trucks to make it there when you have trucks like Bigfoot to compete with. Friday night started out to be good with Rick being second fastest qualifier. Rick figured it would the Fabtech Obsession versus Bounty Hunter in the finals. Unfortunately Rick was looking to far ahead and was unable to make it to the semi finals. Rick did come out to complete his freestyle event that night and with AmeriGas and James Duff in attendance he knew he had to do freestyle to wow the crowd and that he did accomplish.

MENIFEE, CA – On Sunday morning, August 5th we rolled into Paso Robles to face off with some of the most competitive trucks. The field of trucks consisted of: Bounty Hunter, Iron Outlaw, King Krunch, El Matador and Natural High. This event held two shows at 2:00p.m. and 7:00p.m. The 2:00p.m. show we had a great qualifying pass. In the first round of racing we suffered a broken input shaft on our transmission. This put us out for the rest of the afternoon show.

For the 7:00p.m. show we were back up and running and ready to win! Rick had another good qualifying time that gave him great determination to win the race. Rick worked his way down the rounds. The semi finals placed The Fabtech Obsession up against Iron Outlaw. It was a fast race where the trucks had to slide the corners and be pushed as hard as the drivers could, and this placed Rick into the Finals. The semi final race was just a preview of what the finals would be. The final round was The Fabtech Obsession up against Jimmy Creaton in The Bounty Hunter. In the final round had both drivers determined to win, as it was the fastest race of the weekend. Rick had to show his gratitude to all who helped him put his transmission back together to win this race. The best way to show it was by winning for all who helped him and he did accomplished the victory with great pride.

Our next event will be held in Grants Pass, OR on Friday and Saturday August 17th and 18th.

MENIFEE, CA – Obsession racing has been busy doing displays these past two weekends. The first display was on July 14th in Temecula, CA for the grand opening for the new 4 wheel Parts store. The Fabtech Obsession was the main feature of the Grand Opening. Everyone commuting on either the north or southbound side of interstate 15 couldn’t help but notice the monster truck on display. On Saturday evening we had to de-tire, load up and head to Redondo Beach, CA for the grand Re-opening of the 4 Wheel Parts store. The Redondo Beach store is located right off one of the busiest freeways in southern California. Anyone on the 405 freeway got to see two eye catching monster trucks that seemed to have pulled in a great crowd. During the display Pat Gerber was their in Shocker to crush some cars. The Fabtech Obsession thought it was a static display. Being promised to be in the next 4 Wheel Parts newsletter Rick was persuaded to jump the Fabtech Obsession over cars too. We both jumped the cars about five or six times pleasing the crowd.

The following Saturday, July 21st we met up with our old friend Marcel to do a display for the Huntington Beach Line-X at the Huntington Beach Ford dealership. This was a display for one day. The dealership is located on Beach Blvd. The monster truck drew a lot of attention to their dealership. What made the display even better was that they had two new superduties with Fabtech lift kits already installed to support the monster trucks display.

Looking into August we will be in Paso Robles, CA, Grants Pass, OR and Monroe, WA. We will update you with our promising results.
