MENIFEE, CA – It’s good to be home after being on the road for almost a month. Our North West tour started in Salinas, California for Monster Jam. Salinas started with two days of displays and an all day pit party on Saturday. Racing was held on Sunday afternoon. We felt good going into the races on Sunday morning. We knew we had a strong running truck. The track layout was a turning course which is the kind of course that Rick prefers. An hour and a half before show time our son Eric was putting the truck in position for introductions and informed Rick that the transmission wasn’t working properly. After looking over the situation Rick decided we needed to replace the transmission. Fortunately Kelvin Ramner (The Natural High Monster Truck Team) was there and willing to help out. We got the truck together with enough time to make introductions. We qualified with Grave Digger and made the forth fastest qualifying time. Unfortunately in round one of racing Rick was out by a fender against Grave Digger. We ended the night with a strong Freestyle scoring in the upper half in points.

From Salinas, California Rick headed to Monroe, Washington for WHR Raceways Monster Madness Event. This show was a two day event. Saturday Rick was the fastest qualifier and took the win against Big Foot in the finals. In freestyle he placed third. Sunday the weather was against them with rain, but Rick managed to stay on top with fastest qualifier and placing first again in the finals against Checkered Flag Entertainment 2006 Racing Champion Monster Moose. Placing second in freestyle The Fabtech Obsession was the only truck to jump the house trailer.

Ending the tour in Missoula, Montana the Fabtech Obsession kept the winning streak alive. Rick was excited to be up against his old time rival Kreg Christiansen in Dragon Slayer from the MOD series. Friday night Rick would put the Fabtech Obsession as fastest qualifier by more than a second from the rest of the field. Friday night we worked our way through the brackets to see Monster Moose in the semi finals and Natural High in finals, where Rick took the Fabtech Obsession to victory. It was the Fabtech Obsession night with another victory in freestyle sweeping the night. On Saturday night it was Rick again with fastest qualifier and Kreg in the Dragon Slayer placing second. This is what the two of them wanted all weekend. Unfortunately Dragon Slayer hit a turning pole in the semi finals against his team mate Captain Insano placing him in the finals against Rick. Rick was bound and determined for another victory and accomplished it. Rick took second place in freestyle.

It was a four final round wins out of five races. We are back at the shop getting the truck ready for July. We are also working hard to complete Eric’s truck for the near future.

MENIFEE, CA – Last weekend we went south of the border for our first time to one of Mexico’s biggest Monster Truck events. Last month they released the event posters with a big picture of the Fabtech Obsession as the headliner truck. When we saw the poster we knew we had to be on our game. Thursday afternoon started with a three hour media interview. Being cocky and confident Rick stated he would be in the winners circle once again.

Friday nights kick off party had a two and a half hour parade through town on wide loads. Following with a three hour autograph session at their sponsor’s location. Saturday night Rick had to back up his statement from Thursdays interview. The track was designed by Lee Collins and the crew at WHR Motorsports. It was a fast but very technical course. When Rick went over the track with fine a fine tooth comb absorbing every last detail by doing this it paid off big time. Rick ended up against Monster Jerky with Frank Schettini in the finals. We are both sponsored by AmeriGas Propane, so this made us both eager to take the win to please Jeff Jones the market manager of AmeriGas who was there in attendance at the race. Rick’s determination and dedication let him take the win in racing.

In the freestyle competition Rick’s momentum would not stop. He put on the freestyle performance of the night taking another first place win. He ended up taking home two beautiful 4’ tall trophy’s. This was the first time Rick has swept the show.

MENIFEE, CA – Santa Rosa, CA held three days of Monster Jam competition with some of the toughest competitors. Friday started out with Rick doing live radio remote interviews. Rick set the pace for the weekend when the radio DJ asked Rick what truck he drove. Rick quoted “the one in the winners circle”. Knowing he would have to back this up Rick had to work through the rounds to make it to the finals. This placed him up against Grave Digger and he took the win.

Saturday night Rick had a malfunction with the rear steering on the truck. This bumped him out of the racing competition so he had to make up for it in freestyle. He did a good job and placed third in the freestyle competition.

Sunday Rick wanted to go for two out of three in racing. He made it to the semi finals against TMAXX. TMAXX ended up taking the win in the finals. In freestyle competition Rick took second place with a score of 25. Grave Digger and TMAXX tied with a score of 27.

This was the first weekend Rick drove with a Hans neck support. He felt it was a great improvement compared to the old fashioned neck roll. He definitely recommends it to anyone who drives. He will make sure Eric will be using one in the upcoming days ahead. We would like to thank Dan Radoni with the Patriot Monster Truck for letting us try his Hans neck support to see how he liked it. And he did!!!
