Obsession Racing Press Release 2016 #5 & 6

MENIFEE, CA – May started out with two shows for WGAS Motorsports. The first weekend in May the show was in Santa Rosa California with both trucks Obsession and Obsessed. Following this show both trucks headed to Turlock California. Both shows the trucks put on a great show for WGAS Motorsports.

On Saturday the 21 st the Obsessed truck did a sponsored display for Airflow Research at the Willows Springs Race track. Obsessed drew a great crowd for this display showing off its shiny new AFR heads. The following day on Sunday Obsession and Obsessed did a show in Victorville California for the San Bernardino county fair. This was Obsession Racings second year there and the fans were happy to see them back in their town!

The following Thursday and Friday nights both trucks were in Sacramento for the Sacramento County fair. The trucks did well once again! From here the guys and their trucks headed to Salt Lake City Utah and parked the rig at Mark and Leslie Gallagher’s house and flew home until the next show in June in Missoula Montana.

The second weekend in June the guys flew back to Utah and headed to Missoula Montana for a show for WHR Motorsports. The show went well and we were really grateful for Mark’s help and hospitality in helping us out!

Rick and Eric headed back home from Montana for a display on Father’s Day weekend at Cross Roads Church in Costa Mesa. The fathers and all who saw the display loved being up close to the monster trucks and everyone had a good time!

Wrapping up June Obsession Racing did a show at the Alameda County Fair in Northern California for WHR Motorsports. Eric tested out his new Flame Motorsports frame at this show.

It handled really well! We have to give a big thanks to Tyler Groth (Double Trouble) for helping us put together Eric truck in time to make it to this show!!

Obsession Racing Press Release 2016 #4

MENIFEE, CA – In April we did a show for Grand Canyon Promotions in
Phoenix Arizona. These shows were freestyle only on Friday night and two shows on Sunday. Friday Rick and Eric put on a great show! Eric did his typical big air launch, but unfortunately on his landing the four link bar broke. Luckily they did not have an event on Saturday so they were able to fix Eric’s truck for Sunday. On Sunday afternoon Rick and Eric discussed to each other about doing their freestyle run at the same time. They ended up doing it and the promoter and the crowd loved it! Since this was a big hit they closed the show doing the same thing on Sunday evening.

The following weekend Rick took Obsession to the Cook’s automotive grand opening at their new facility in Anaheim California. It was a successful turnout and drew a lot of people to their new place.

The rest of the month of April was spent in the shop fine tuning the trucks and preparing for the next upcoming shows.

Obsession Racing Press Release 2016 #3

MENIFEE, CA – March started off in El Paso Texas for Monster Jam. These shows were held on Saturday and Sunday. For the Saturday evening show Eric qualified in the top 8 category in racing and Rick placed 9th. For freestyle Eric had one heck of a save! You know it must have been some great driving when Neil Elliot (driver of Maximum Destruction) comes up to you and complements you on your driving abilities, as he did to Eric. Sunday afternoon the Obsession Racing team put on another great show for the El Paso fans! They made a great impression!

Eric received great news by being invited to drive in the Young Guns Shoot Out for Monster Jam in the World Finals in Vegas. This was a great honor for him but also well deserved! The Obsession 20th Anniversary truck was also on display along with a total of 114 other monster trucks. The Obsession monster truck was the only truck that Gabriel Iglesias (that sponsors the Fluffy Monster Truck) took photo with. He didn’t take any pictures with any other trucks but his own. Eric did extremely well in practice and qualifying on Wednesday night. Unfortunately in the first round of racing on Thursday night, the transmission linkage broke and got stuck in high gear. Even with the transmission issues, it only slowed him down by a second and that was all it took for the five time returning driver to beat him. This was a great experience and honor for him and he is hoping to return again next year. As always it is a great time catching up and seeing all of our monster truck families, fans and meeting new friends.

Finishing up March, Rick headed to Stockton California with his Obsession truck for a show for MTX Promotions on the following weekend after Vegas. This was a two day show on Friday and Saturday nights with racing and freestyle. Friday night Rick was on fire and took home the win in racing! He had a great freestyle also that night ending his run with a three wheel donut.

Saturday show also went well. Rick was first out in freestyle but made it a tough show to follow for the following drivers to top!
