MENIFEE, CA – February started off in Portland Oregon for a Monster Jam Event held on Valentines weekend. The first show was on Saturday the 14th. Rick started my Valentines off right by taking the win in racing and dedicating it to me in front of thousands of screaming fans. Rick finished off the evening placing third out of eight trucks in the Free Style competition. The second show of the weekend Rick was there to repeat his performance. Unfortunately during his first round a gear shifter from the crushed cars got caught in the Monster Truck tire. This sent us to the pits to repair the tire which took us out of racing for the night. It was repaired just in time for the Free Style competition with a special thanks to Gary Basl for helping in repairing the tire and assisting in the pits for the whole weekend. With all of the obstacles crushed down so badly Rick had his work cut out for him and settled for fourth place in Free Style.
The following weekend our event was held in Indio California for the Riverside County Date Fair that was promoted by WGAS Motorsports. This event was a free style only event. Rick did some fancy driving as he disconnected the steering wheel during a donut and threw it out the window showing off to the fans what a great driver he is EVEN WITH NO HANDS! Along with the Monster Trucks they ran trophy carts for the kids with ages ranging from 8 to 14. AmeriGas’s plant in Indio purchased tickets for the event to show their support for Obsession Racing. It was to their surprise when our son Eric pulled out of the trailer an exact replica of his Dad’s monster truck. They both put on a great show as the crowd always enjoys seeing a Father and son team. This was the first time that Eric received a paycheck for racing. He said he could get use to this with no problem! The bigger the truck the more the money. He’s ready for the big leagues! We also want to give a special thanks to Jeff Jones and Tom Read for pitting for both Eric and Rick.
