Obsession Racing Press Release 2013 #10

MENIFEE, CA – We started off October with Eric turning 18 in Red Bluff California for the West Coast Nationals. On Thursday October 3 (Eric’s actual Birthday) we started the morning with Eric and Rick doing displays for the local elementary and preschools. After the displays they were live on air for the local radio stations where they battled it out on the mike to gear up the audience to show their father/son competitiveness! In the evening to follow tradition they had a parade down Main Street to start the kickoff party to promote the event. The town always enjoys seeing all the trucks travel down the street and are able to get up close to the trucks while they are parked and get autographs from their favorite drivers. Travis and Tyler did an exceptional job of decorating Eric’s truck for his Birthday and made it a memorable day for him.
Friday night Eric showed the big guns what an experienced 18 year old could do! He won racing and freestyle! It was a proud and memorable moment for Obsession Racing! Saturday night Eric beat his Dad in the semifinals. (This will be Eric’s talk at the table for all of the next holidays to come!) Rick and Eric put on a great freestyle that brought the crowd to their feet! Wrong Way Rick is always a fan favorite in Red Bluff! Sunday afternoon Eric made it to the semifinals in racing. In racing they had lights but unfortunately Rick’s view of the light was restricted and this put him out of racing. Freestyle went smooth and steady and was a great run with a lot of air time and obstacles! Everyone was pleased and it was a really fun show and looking forward to doing it again next year!

On October 11th through the 13th we had a show for R & S Motorsports in Turlock California. Eric was unable to do this show because of school. Jimmy Lehnertz took over for him in Obsessed. Rick also drove his Wrong Way Rick truck for this show. Rick had the fastest qualifying times in all three shows. He made it to the semifinals against Dan Radoni in the Patriot on Friday night in racing. For freestyle Jimmy unfortunately ended up with the rubber side up on Eric’s truck. The crowd liked it but unfortunately this means work for the guys! Saturday Rick won racing and put on a great freestyle. Jimmy ran his freestyle on Saturday night without the body but still seemed to mange to roll it again off of the jump. These things happen in this industry you just have to roll with it! Literally!! For Sunday Rick made it to the finals in racing. Luckily three times isn’t a charm and Jimmy kept the truck the right way up and put on a great freestyle run! We are very grateful to Jimmy and his family for keeping our trucks and semi until our show in Oregon. Jimmy fully repaired Obsessed and has it all ready for Rick in November! If you’re going to roll a truck, it pays to know how to fiberglass! We really appreciate him fixing it and stepping in and helping drive and crew! Our next stop will be in Oregon.
