Obsession Racing Press Release 2013 #5

MENIFEE, CA – April started off in Phoenix Arizona on the 5th for a display for E. B. Bradley at their new location. This was also the unveiling of the purple E.B. Bradley trophy truck body. It was a great way to welcome all of their new customers in this market. The following day Rick and Eric both raced their new body style trucks for the first of four Robby Gordon SST races at the Cardinal Stadium. This is a racing only series. The track was designed with two over under courses and was set up more like a motocross track. Both Rick and Eric did not get the chance to have a practice run on the track as all of the other drivers did because we were at our display. Fortunately it didn’t affect Eric’s racing. Eric took out some of the biggest names in the industry on his first time out that sent him all the way to the semifinals.

Our next event was in Puyallup Washington for WGAS. On the way towards Washington, Rick put on two displays for E. B. Bradley. One was in Portland Oregon and the other was in Kent Washington. The displays were successful drawing in a crowd and gave them the opportunity for meeting new customers. The event in Puyallup was a Friday night only show. They had racing and freestyle. Due to Eric having school and being out of state, Justin Cluster drove Eric’s truck for Obsession Racing. Rick won racing in the E.B. Bradley truck and took third in freestyle. Justin also put on a terrific show for Obsession Racing.

Ending the month of April Obsession Racing was booked for another Robbie Gordon SST Series at the Coliseum in Los Angeles. This was a very challenging track and unfortunately Rick and Eric had a huge disadvantage because their trucks width is 12’5” and the obstacle was to race through the columns that were measured at 13’ leaving 3 inches on each side to race through a historical monument! (No pressure). Most trucks are 11’10” to 12’ wide so the other trucks had a little more of an advantage. They both did a great show considering the consequences. Slow and steady is what kept the building in one piece but it was nice to have motorsports back in L.A. once again.

Obsession Racing Press Release 2013 #4

MENIFEE, CA – March was another busy month for Obsession Racing. It started off with Rick and Eric doing a one night show on March the second for Outlaw Monster Trucks in Victorville California. They each drove their trucks Obsession and Obsessed. This was a freestyle only show. Eric was the crowd’s favorite and won the show. We are always very proud of him how he controls the truck with ease while putting on a fantastic show!

On the ninth of March both trucks were in Santa Maria California again for Outlaw Monster Trucks venue. This was also another one night only freestyle show. Eric won two rounds of freestyle in Obsessed and Rick won one round in Obsession. This was a great night for Obsession Racing and they both had fun doing the show together.

Following the Santa Maria Show they made a quick trip back to the shop to get ready for the Las Vegas display for Monster Jam. We had both Obsession and Obsessed on display. This is the largest gathering of Monster Trucks in any one place. For that reason this brings fans from all 50 states. It is really rewarding to get to be able to meet all the fans. Some of them have never seen us live before, only on television and through the internet. We enjoyed everyone’s company and always look forward this venue.

During this time frame we also had to mount two new trophy truck bodies for the Robbie Gordon Stadium Super Trucks Series. You won’t see the Obsession and Obsessed names on these trucks due to this is a racing series. LAT Oils, Superior Welding #103 truck is driven by Eric Swanson and the E.B. Bradley #95 truck is driven by Rick Swanson. We are really looking forward to doing this series. For those of you that cannot make a live event, NBC and NBC Sports will be televising these races.

Obsession Racing Press Release 2013 #3

MENIFEE, CA – February was a very busy month for Obsession Racing. February started with our third show in Anaheim California. This show was booked for one truck which put Rick back in his Obsession Truck. The show was a big success for Obsession. Rick did a fantastic job in racing making it all the way to the semifinals. During intermission Rick was asked to do a giveaway after his freestyle run. This is quite a compliment to be asked to participate and inter act with the fans during the show. The crowd was excited to see him after putting on an awesome freestyle that put him in the hot seat.

The following week we had to put a new motor in Obsessed and be ready to leave by Wednesday night for Albuquerque New Mexico for another Monster Jam event. Both Obsession and Obsessed was book for this show. Between the three days of shows, Rick and Jimmy both made it to the semifinals in racing. Rick and Jimmy had solid freestyle runs for all three shows. On Sunday afternoon Rick got a phone call to fill in for one of the trucks that could not make it to the Date Festival Monster Truck show performing on Monday in Indio California. Rick drove straight through from New Mexico to the Indio show. Eric met him on Monday to tire up his truck as he would be driving for the show to help his Dad out. Eric did both the afternoon and evening shows. He did a fantastic job and won both shows.

Rick and Eric got home late Monday night and had to get the trucks prepared first for an E.B. Bradley display in Hayward California on Friday. Then on Saturday Obsession an Obsessed did a show for Monster Jam in Oakland California. This is the closest event to Jimmy’s home town which helped him put on a great performance for his local fans. Rick had a great qualifying run and put on another great freestyle show but unfortunately when he hit the biggest obstacle on the floor he broke an axle housing that ended his run early. We are on Facebook under Obsession racing for more up to date information for all of our fans, family and friends. We look forward to seeing you at our next event!
