Obsession Racing Press Release 2013 #2

MENIFEE, CA – On Friday January 18th Obsession Racing did a display for E. B. Bradley in San Diego California. This display and luncheon was for their employees and customer appreciation. This is one of the first of many displays Obsession Racing will be doing for E. B. Bradley’s Company.

The next day the Obsessed and Obsession Monster Trucks performed for Monster Jam at Qual Com Stadium in San Diego, CA. Rick and Jimmy Lehnertz put on a great show. Jimmy had and extremely close race with the company truck Lucas Oil Crusader. He also put on a great freestyle run. He charged every obstacle in front of him all the way until he landed on the side wall of the tire, and blew the bead off of the rim. Rick did excellent in racing against the big name company trucks. His freestyle run was phenomenal that held him in second place for more than half of the field. He started off with wheelies and ended in an awesome cyclone donut that brought the crowd to their feet!

February 26th Obsession Racing was back in Anaheim with both trucks. This weekend would prove to be costly for Obsession Racing. Unfortunately it started to go downhill on Thursday with Rick smashing is finger working on the truck leaving him with 15 stitches. He was bandaged up and ready for racing and not letting anything stop him from putting on a good show. He went up for his qualifying run against Adam Anderson in Grave Digger the Legends and they were neck in neck coming into the last turn, when Obsessed blew the engine which put Rick out for the night.

Jimmy did a good job racing and went for his freestyle run. He started off hitting the big jump catching major air and was putting on quite a show. Obsession headed towards the motor home, and right before he crushed it, the axle snapped which made him loose his momentum for clearing the motorhome. It did look really cool and the crowd loved it. Unfortunately when we got it to the trailer we realized the transmission was broken. Needless to say this was an expensive weekend. But this won’t stop us! We are already busy getting the repairs done for our next show. On the 7th of February we will have our second display with E.B. Bradley in Los Angeles and on the 8th will be the 3rd display in Anaheim. After the displays for E.B. Bradley, Obsession Racing will be performing for Monster Jam in Anaheim with one truck. We can’t wait to see all of our loyal fans and look forward to putting on a great show!

Obsession Racing Press Release 2013 #1

MENIFEE, CA- 2013 started out for Obsession Racing in Tacoma Washington for Monster Jam. Rick and Tom Lehnertz made the long haul up to Tacoma. Rick hasn’t been there for at least six years. With only having one truck booked for this show, Rick decided to take his monster truck Obsession. This weekend had four shows: one on Friday night, two on Saturday and one on Sunday afternoon. This being the first show of the year some of the modifications we did during our downtime had some glitches. This was very frustrating for Rick but by the time they worked out all of the kinks, Rick did very well in racing on Sunday and had a fantastic show! We want to give a huge thanks to Tom and Dallas for all their help. Rick couldn’t have done it without them!

The following weekend we were back in our home town in Anaheim California for Monster Jam with both truck performing. Rick drove Obsessed and Jimmy Lehnertz drove Obsession. It was a very cold and wintery night. Rick must have brought this weather back with from Washington? This event was a Saturday night show only. Rick and Jimmy did a good job in racing. The trucks ran great all night and they both had solid freestyle runs.

Upon leaving Anaheim Rick, Eric and Jimmy’s Dad Tom drove straight to Lancaster for a commercial shoot. They had to mount a new body, wash the trucks and tires, and get everything prepared for Sunday night’s photo shoot. Let me remind you it got down to 10 degrees! This photo shoot started at 5:30pm Sunday night and did not end until 6:00am Monday morning. Needless to say they were frozen and tired! But it will all be worth it when it airs in the next upcoming months on Nation Wide Television.

This is a huge show that starts a week before with displays for the local sponsors. Our first display with Obsessed was for Metals Direct. It is a Metal Building Company. While it was on display they used Obsessed in their new television commercial. At this show it proved how popular Wrong Way Rick is. People were consistently asking for novelties on this truck. The weekend performance went very well. Jimmy Lehnertz drove for us in Obsessed and once again did an excellent job! He made it to the semifinals in racing and Rick in Wrong Way Rick went to the finals twice. They both put on an awesome show for their freestyle runs and brought the crowd to their feet every time.
