Obsession Racing Press Release 2010 #14

MENIFEE, CA – September ended with another display for AmeriGas at their Santa Maria Office. This office is located on a main boulevard in Santa Maria. Even having only the Obsessed Monster Truck on display it drew a great crowd of people throughout the entire day. We enjoy doing displays for AmeriGas and we are looking forward to more displays in the future, as we know and have seen that it is a big benefit to the company.

The first weekend of October Rick and Jeff did an event in Red Bluff California for West Coast Monster Truck Nationals. This show was a three day event. The weekend started Wednesday with both trucks on display for the M & M Café. On Thursday both trucks were in a parade that went down Main Street for a kick off party and autograph signing. Friday night was the first event that had a strong field of competitors. The truck line up was Obsession, Obsessed, Max D, El Toro Loco, Grave Digger, TMT, King Krunch and El Matador. Rick was determined to have one of the fastest times. After he watched the first few trucks he thought there would be a good chance that he would have one of the top times. Unfortunately the speed wasn’t the problem, the corner was! He rolled Eric’s truck to its lid. This had Rick (and Jeff when he could) in the pits working franticly to have the truck ready so that it could have a safety inspection and return to the field for freestyle. Jeff in Obsession had Max D first round. It was an extremely close race and the call was made to Max D. The Obsession Team got the Obsessed truck cleared for safety and returned for freestyle. Both trucks did an awesome performance in freestyle and stayed with their tires toward the ground for the night.

Saturday night Rick in Obsessed made it to the semi finals in racing. For freestyle Jeff was the first truck out in Obsession and really got the crowd going. A few trucks later Rick came out in full force in Obsessed (Eric’s truck), did a couple of jumps and then flipped it once again!! (Here goes another safety inspection!) Two times in one weekend! Rick made the call to Eric and gave him the news. Eric’s biggest disappointment was that HE wanted to be the first one to roll his truck!! Sunday afternoon came, and we are proud to say that Rick or Jeff didn’t roll the truck! Rick ended up taking the win against Max D in the finals. This made up a little bit for the roll over’s! Jeff went out in freestyle and caught some huge air in Obsession and cut some awesome donuts! I’m sure thankful he managed to keep the truck from rolling! (But there were some close calls) Rick also did a cool and graceful freestyle with what was left on the body of Obsessed! We would like to thank Ron Fischer and Steve Cain for all of their hard work and help all weekend long! Let’s hope we don’t repeat this weekend for a long time!!

Obsession Racing Press Release 2010 #13

press.release.2010.10.18MENIFEE, CA – In late August Obsession Racing had an event at Sacramento Raceway. Rick and Eric were the drivers piloting their Monster trucks. The competition consisted of Bounty Hunter, Iron Outlaw and Airborne Ranger. This was Eric first time back in the driver’s seat since Pomona California’s event. Eric did an awesome job on Friday night in racing. He ended taking his Dad out in the Semi Finals; which we are still hearing about to this day! He ended up against Iron Outlaw in the final round. The Obsession Team pleased the crowd during their freestyle runs.

On Saturday the fans saw that Obsession Racing ran a hard run with Eric making it to the semi finals and Rick went to the finals against Bounty Hunter. For freestyle on Saturday they had a bread truck for an obstacle. They used the bread truck along with a dirt ramp to make a long jump one way and a step up if you hit it from the other way. Eric did an awesome job clearing the obstacle both ways as well as his Dad! They are looking forward to going back next year and we want to give special thanks to Jeff Jones for crewing and to Brad Campbell for towing our trailer for us!

The following month Obsession Racing did an AmeriGas display at the Temecula Plant with both trucks for an open house. The trucks were a great conversation piece to all those who attended and also to who passed by that could help but seeing them on display.

Obsession Racing Press Release 2010 #12

Menifee, CA – On the 14th and 15th of August Obsession Racing made their first appearance at the legendary RMR (Rocky Mountain Raceway) Clash of the Titans Event. This is one of the biggest West Coast Events held during the summertime season. RMR had twelve of the most competitive racing trucks. The giant figure eight course takes driving ability, horsepower, and your equipment needs to be at its best. The track is set up in the form of an hourglass design on asphalt. Instead of having the looped corners of a figure eight, you have very sharp corners with two short straight a way’s and two long straight a way’s plus racing at very high speeds it is very difficult to have any traction. This is defiantly a driver’s course!

Rick drove Obsessed and Jeff Jones was in Obsession. In the weeks leading up to this event Rick was told that first time drivers at this track usually do not make it out the first round. On Saturday night Rick qualified in the middle of the field. Unfortunately Jeff hit a cone during qualifying and this put him lower on the bracket but he was quick for his time. In racing Jeff in Obsession was taken out by King Krunch. Rick took Obsessed all the way to the semi finals again Dan Runte in Big Foot. He was very pleased considering first timers of RMR are never likely to make it to the top.

Sunday evening had both racing and freestyle. During qualifying Rick was doing awesome and unfortunately slid out in the corner costing him a broken input shaft in the transmission. Jeff did his qualifying run in Obsession and then immediately helped Rick try to get the transmission back together in Obsessed for racing. Jeff chose to stick with working on Obsessed, with the help of Michael Christensen while Rick jumped in Obsession and brought it to the semi finals. This was pretty impressive since the Obsession truck has the smaller motor. For freestyle they couldn’t get Obsessed back together in time. Rick continued the night in Obsession and did a great freestyle the pleased the crowd. We wanted to give special thanks and appreciation to all of the people that helped us. Michael Christensen for all of your help at the track, David Smith for getting us into this show, Jimmy Creten for the transmission parts, Jim Allen for the great photo’s, and Doug Binstock for booking us into this show and the awesome meal on Friday night. The Obsession Racing Team is looking forward to this show once again next year!
