Obsession Racing Press Release 2010 #5

MENIFEE, CA – On March 11th Rick and I headed up to Reno Nevada for four shows in three day for the Monster Jam Series. This was the first weekend in two years that Rick would use his firestone tires. This decision was made after watching countless video clips of racing over the last two years. Rick has really been trying to excel in the racing format of the show. For the last two years Rick has been running the china tires and has been unable to be consistent in the round around courses. Knowing that Reno is a big Chicago round around course Rick wanted to try to see if the Firestone tires would make a difference in his racing. The Firestone tires proved Rick’s point by putting Rick in the Finals for two shows and the semi finals in the other show. Rick did very well in racing and the tires proved to have a very strong bite as Rick missed two freestyle portions due to the fact that he had to change two rear differentials during the weekend. We were fortunate enough to have Ron Fisher with Fisher towing to make a special trip to come and help us out by crewing for us. We want to give a special thanks to Ron and the McCormick family for all of their help in keeping the Obsessed truck dominating all weekend! Due to a roll over on Saturday night by King Krunch Daron Basl from Flame Motorsports team brought both King Krunch and El Matador to our shop for repair and preparation for the truck for Las Vegas Nevada Event. We will also have two trucks for the Las Vegas event on March 26th and 27th. We would like to thank of all our sponsors, family and friends who keep Obsession Racing running.

MENIFEE, CA – On February 27th Obsession had an event in Oakland California for Monster Jam. We had during the week of the show and there was a major down pour on Friday night led to our second mud show of the year. Jeff and Eric went along with Rick to help him out for this event. The rain had stopped by Saturday morning which allowed them to have a pit party before the show on the grass for all of the fans. During the pit party the track crew worked non stop to try and get as much water off of the track as possible. It was good to see recurring fans at the Oakland stadium, which included one of the local Line-X applicators and their family. Rick decided to take the Obsession truck because he had thrown his back out the weekend before. Obsession is the truck that Jeff is drives and in case Ricks back hurt to badly it would make it easy for Jeff to jump and take Rick’s place. Rick did end up driving for the night, which ended up being a good decision. Rick had not piloted Obsession for almost a year. He found by driving it that there needs to be some improvements made and by not knowing this it hindered his performance in racing. In freestyle the mud took its toll on all of the drivers. Even though it was a slippery muddy mess the die hard fans didn’t mind and were very pleased with the show! The following week Rick and Eric spent countless hours of cleaning the truck for a display they had Sunday. They did a display for a six year boys Birthday Party in Murrieta California. He had the time of his life and Eric and Rick let him help de-tire the truck and he thought that was really cool! We gained another Obsession/Obsessed fan and he said “I will proudly wear your Obsessed to the World Finals”.

MENIFEE, CA – Once again for Valentines weekend Rick was in Portland Oregon racing for Monster Jam. The week started out on the previous Monday when Rick and Jeff had to drive from Menifee to Medford Oregon to have an in frame service done by Pacific Power Product on the Semi. It took Pacific Power Products three days of working on the truck and it was definitely worth the wait! In Medford they met up with Patriot Racing’s team for the rest of the trip up to Portland. Portland was our first indoor show for this year. This show was a great confidence builder for Rick as he was in the finals for all three shows. He won two shows and the third show he placed second in racing. Freestyle is always a challenge in a small arena. The drives had very few obstacles to freestyle off of. But even with these circumstances Rick managed to place in the top half of the field of trucks in scoring. We would like to give a big thanks to Jeff Jones for making the haul and pitting for Rick (even on Valentines Day) and also a special thanks to Gary Basil for helping Rick and Jeff at the event. It was a very successful weekend for Obsession Racing.

As soon as Rick returned home from Portland Oregon he one day to prepare for Albuquerque New Mexico. This was a 1900 mile trip from Sunday to Thursday night. New Mexico was another 3 day Monster Jam event. Rick made it to the semi finals on the first night of racing. On the second night of racing Rick had a close race against Airforce Afterburner and unfortunately Damon took win. The third night Rick went to the final round again Max D and had to settle for second as Tom Meents did another awesome job in racing. In freestyle Rick was the fourth truck out on all three nights and the first one to hit the big jump in the center of the arena. The crowd was very pleased with his freestyle performance! We had a great time in Albuquerque! We had the chance to reunited with one of my girlfriends from high school and her family. I was great seeing them and they also the event.
