MENIFEE, CA- Two weeks ago we were proud to debut our newest truck Obsessed at the Monster Jam World Finals held in Las Vegas Nevada. This is our Son Eric’s Monster Truck. Eric will be driving his truck in late August for a DVD that will document him as the youngest Monster Truck driver. The hard work and long nights of getting this truck ready for the event in Vegas was definitely worth it because of the response it got with Eric as the driver. It was funny to see people ask him if he was REALLY the driver and owner of this truck. If they didn’t believe him people would ask the adults from Airborne Rangers team to verify his statement was true. They really got a kick out of seeing a 13 year old having the ability to handle his very own Monster. He already acquired his own fans, even if it was his first time doing autographs with his truck.

The new truck design caught a lot of people’s attention including Feld Motor sports and Mattel. The week after the event in Vegas we were contacted by Feld Entertainments Marketing department about the production of the Obsessed Hot Wheel. We are currently hoping for a January 2010 release date. We would like to thank everybody who helped make the Obsessed Monster Truck a success. We would like to give a special thanks to Brian and his crew from 1 day wrap for an awesome design and wrap. Also we would like to thank Jeff Jones and Tom Read from AmeriGas for all of their help with the truck in making sure everything was finished in time for the début. We really appreciated Jeff sticking it out with us all night long making sure we had help with whatever we needed.

Obsession Racing Press Release 2009 #5

MENIFEE, CA – At the end of February Obsession Racing attended the Monster Jam event in Oakland California. This was a family oriented event for us. While Rick was driving the Monster truck, in between rounds Eric was racing his trophy kart. This gave Rick great pleasure to watch Eric bang fenders and run with the modified trophy karts and being able to stay with the pack with only a stock motor. We can hardly wait to see him perform in the big monster truck with his no fear attitude (but our pocket books can). Rick put on an incredible freestyle placing 3rd. The freestyle run was a fast pace run that included, donuts, slap wheelie, big air, and even a two wheel bicycle save! Eric proved himself ready for the big leagues. He de-tired the truck all by himself and would not let me help so he could make Dad proud. Rick was very happy to have the truck ready to go after he finished a long night of autographs.

Our next stop was Fresno California for another Monster Jam event. Rick made it to the semi finals on a close call loosing to Grave Digger in racing. We attached the pictures so you could be the judge. Fresno had one of the hardest line ups of trucks for its size. What we mean by that is when you have a small field of trucks (6) that are all very fast trucks you never get an easy round. This included Grave Digger, Bounty Hunter, Iron Outlaw, TMNT, and Shocker. Rick took a forth place in freestyle which isn’t a bad score considering he was first out which makes it hard get a high score.

This weekend we will be in Las Vegas Nevada displaying the brand new Obsessed Monster truck. We are looking forward to seeing you there and to come meet the new driver Eric Swanson.

MENIFEE, CA – February started off in Portland Oregon for a Monster Jam Event held on Valentines weekend. The first show was on Saturday the 14th. Rick started my Valentines off right by taking the win in racing and dedicating it to me in front of thousands of screaming fans. Rick finished off the evening placing third out of eight trucks in the Free Style competition. The second show of the weekend Rick was there to repeat his performance. Unfortunately during his first round a gear shifter from the crushed cars got caught in the Monster Truck tire. This sent us to the pits to repair the tire which took us out of racing for the night. It was repaired just in time for the Free Style competition with a special thanks to Gary Basl for helping in repairing the tire and assisting in the pits for the whole weekend. With all of the obstacles crushed down so badly Rick had his work cut out for him and settled for fourth place in Free Style.

The following weekend our event was held in Indio California for the Riverside County Date Fair that was promoted by WGAS Motorsports. This event was a free style only event. Rick did some fancy driving as he disconnected the steering wheel during a donut and threw it out the window showing off to the fans what a great driver he is EVEN WITH NO HANDS! Along with the Monster Trucks they ran trophy carts for the kids with ages ranging from 8 to 14. AmeriGas’s plant in Indio purchased tickets for the event to show their support for Obsession Racing. It was to their surprise when our son Eric pulled out of the trailer an exact replica of his Dad’s monster truck. They both put on a great show as the crowd always enjoys seeing a Father and son team. This was the first time that Eric received a paycheck for racing. He said he could get use to this with no problem! The bigger the truck the more the money. He’s ready for the big leagues! We also want to give a special thanks to Jeff Jones and Tom Read for pitting for both Eric and Rick.
