Obsession Racing Press Release 2009 #3

MENIFEE, CA – Last week our neighbors really had the chance to make up their minds if they like us or not. We had four semi’s and eight monster trucks all camped out at our place for a week. With all of the west coast events going on we have always opened our shop to those teams needing a place to fix their trucks or whatever else we could help them with. The trucks on hand were Grave Digger, TMNT, Patriot, Tropical Thunder, Backwards Bob, Blue Thunder and of coarse our two. The week was very busy with everyone working hard to get the vehicles in tip top shape for the following weekend. We spent one evening with our monster truck family having a toasty fire and pizza and of course my home made cookies. Aaron Basl also conquered the skills on how to ride a rip stick (2 wheeled skate board) while eating cookies. We had a good time and managed to accomplish all that need to be done. On Thursday two teams head for a race in Phoenix, AZ and Patriot headed for Anaheim’s 2nd race.

On Friday the 23rd of January we had a Monster Jam display for Wolverine Boots in Anaheim. Saturday morning and the beginning of the afternoon Anaheim had rain. It let for the pit party but unfortunately there was not enough sun to dry out the track. The muddy course was hard to race in. Our night was called short in racing in a close race against the Air force Afterburner. Shock Therapy and Donkey Kong tied for first and Air force was second place. Freestyle was another solid run, where Rick tied third with Taz.

Rick has always been more of a racer than freestyler but he said he is starting to like freestyle a little more each time. By the way our neighbor said we can stick around as long as they can sneak a peek at the trucks when they are here.

MENIFEE, CA – January has always been a busy month for Obsession Racing. We have had three events and three displays. January 9th we had a Monster Jam display at Metro PCS in Anaheim. January 10th was our first Anaheim race where we were very pleased with the new truck. Our racing was cut short, but our freestyle let us know what the new truck was capable of. We had the highest freestyle score for a truck that was able to be driven off the stadium floor.

The following Friday we had another Monster Jam display for Jack in the Box in Oceanside to promote the Saturday night event in San Diego. Rick obviously already started to adapt to the truck as he went out and placed forth fastest in qualifying time. In the second round of racing Rick had issues with the rear steering that ended the racing part of the night early. In freestyle Rick had the chance to push the truck further than he had ever done before. There was a giant double jump with a forty foot gap in the center. Our son Eric told Rick not to worry. It is all in your right foot and if you don’t clear the jump you’ll be taped on Speed TV. It’s a win win situation. (We’ll be asking for donations when he drives) Never the less, everything went well and we were extremely pleased with how the new truck performed. We were also pleased with our freestyle score placing again in the top half.

Obsession Racing Press Release 2009 #1

MENIFEE, CA – Obsession Racing has been very busy over the past two months building our new truck. Due to the repairs we had on the original Obsession and the amount of time it would take to finish the Obsessed truck (Eric’s) we elected that putting Obsessed together was going to be the best way to go. Rick is really looking forward to having a new truck again. Eric is hoping Dad will work out all the bugs, but still keep it in one piece. After two months of a lot of hard work and many hours, we are happy to say it is complete. We would like to give a special thanks to Jeff Jones and Tom Read for dedicating their time and patience in getting the truck put together in time for the race this weekend in Anaheim California. On January 6th we had the opportunity to test jump the truck for a couple of tries. We tested on a dirt lot and didn’t want to disturb neighbors so we didn’t run for long. Rick was very pleased on how it handled but needed some adjustments and time to get used to a couple of the new set ups. We are planning to have the original Obsession completely rebuilt and race ready by mid summer. Eric is will be glad when Rick returns to his Obsession so Eric can get Obsessed!
