MENIFEE, CA – Last weekend Obsession Racing was in Albuquerque New Mexico for their last Monster Jam event for the year 2007. Going in with high hopes Rick was determined to do his best. Friday night started out with a wheelie competition that did not go as well as planned. After getting the truck back to the pits he discovered that the pinion support bearing in the rear differential was going out. This meant that Rick had to be smooth with the throttle and make perfect corners.

Rick did everything he could in racing and proved it by making it to the final rounds both nights. The final round would put the Fabtech Obsession up against Pablo in Grave Digger both nights. Rick was very satisfied when he took a hurt Fabtech Obsession neck and neck against Graver Digger. Unfortunately Grave Digger was called the winner. In the freestyle portion of the show was where you could really tell that the truck wasn’t up to par. It didn’t stop the crowd from cheering but it only placed us in the middle of the bracket. We have two displays left to do this year and then December 1st we will be tearing down the truck to get it ready for a 2008 winning new year!

MENIFEE, CA – On Friday September 21 we rolled into Lancaster, CA for a two day three show weekend. The weekend started off Friday morning with a sound check on the Fabtech Obsession Monster Truck for a new video game. Once he was done with the sound check he prepped the truck for Friday nights racing. The Monster Jam field of truck included: Natural High, Iron Outlaw, Black Smith, Fabtech Obsession, Bounty Hunter and Grave Digger. Friday night the Fabtech Obsession made it to the semi finals where Rick ran out in front until he clipped a turning post that cost him the race.

Saturday morning he woke up to a rain soaked race track. This put driving skills to the test having to make four complete u turns. Rick was up for the challenge and made it all the way up to the finals. In the final round Rick was up against Grave Digger and it ended with a very close race with Grave Digger taking the win. On Saturday night Rick was after a Monster Jam win. This would be the toughest trucks in this weekend’s line up. Having to face Iron Outlaw, Bounty Hunter and Grave Digger once again in the finals. Rick charged hard in the corners and ran a very clean strong pass but unfortunately it was Grave Diggers weekend. Rick is looking forward to a rematch.

We are proud to quote the USHRA.com recap article for Lancaster that states, “Rick Swanson and Obsession had a good weekend as well. Rick made it to the racing finals twice over the weekend and was in it to the finish in both contests, just coming up a little short. It is always fun the watch Rick race. He is one of the guys that believe the fastest way to race is the shortest distance from point A to point B. He charges the corners as hard anyone in the business, dynamites the brakes and makes the truck pivot. He is one of the best in the business.”
