MENIFEE, CA – Rick headed down to TJ Mexico on Thursday 30th for Rick to defend his Mexico undefeated championship. This time it was a new line up of trucks. On the promoters web site the Fabtech Obsession constantly stayed up in the top 3 fan favorite trucks. It changed daily between The Fabtech Obsession, Bounty Hunter and Jurassic Attack. As always Thursday afternoon was the media day. Friday evening is the parade and kick off party and Saturday is racing.

Saturday night started out with qualifying and the top three was The Fabtech Obsession with the fastest time. Bounty Hunter took second fastest and in third Maniac. This set the tone to how he would run the rest of the night. The Fabtech Obsession worked its way down the line and went into the semi finals where he defeated Iron Outlaw. This left him faced with second fastest qualifier Bounty Hunter. When the dust had settled it was all Fabtech Obsession for the championship. This made Rick and the Fabtech Obsession Team undefeated once again in Mexico.

This weekend the Fabtech Obsession will be heading down to Phoenix, AZ at the new Cardinal Stadium to face some new trucks to compete against. This event will put the West Coast trucks against the West trucks. Rick and the Fabtech Obsession team will do everything they can to make sure we come back with bragging rights

MENIFEE, CA – On August 24th we rolled into Monroe Washington for rounds 13 & 14 for the MOD Series. Monroe has one of the longest straight line tracks with a very unique and challenging obstacle course.

The obstacle course is on asphalt with dirt ramps. It started out with a double to a single rhythm section. Then it went into a sweeping turn to the first big tabletop. Sixty feet later was a giant tabletop into a very tight u-turn. Then the straight line race track that consisted of, a five foot tall tabletop and then it was about 80 feet to the cars. Ninety feet after the fifth car was the finish line. This track was set up to test the driver’s ability. This track definitely showed that horsepower is important, but driving skill is what it takes to advance.

In a field of ten trucks we were proud to say that we went to the finals in both straight line and obstacle course in round 13. In straight line finals The Fabtech Obsession had to settle for second place against “Driver of the Year” Linsey Weenk.

Round 13 Obstacle course was very challenging especially during our semi final pass. The other driver hit the turning post receiving a 2 second penalty giving the win to the Fabtech Obsession by more than a second. We all know turning posts have always been penalties. The other competitor said we did not go over this rule in the drivers meeting. With this complaint of the other driver, officials had made the decision to rerun the race. Rick had to prove himself once again by winning with another honest win. This put us into the finals once again against Linsey Weenk. The Fabtech Obsession gave his little 468 motor all she had and was up on two wheels in the corner giving Linsey the win.

Round 14 straight line racing The Fabtech Obsession pulled the fastest time in round one even with a red light penalty. Having a red light you are disqualified and your time doesn’t count. Given only 1 point for this race the Fabtech Obsession is still in first place.

In Obstacle racing The Fabtech Obsession ended up in third place. The points from rounds 13 & 14 gave the Fabtech Obsession a good points lead over second place.

To stay in first place in this series there is no room for mistakes. We need to stay focused and give it all we’ve got so we can show people to win the series and dedicated this to Rick’s Dad is our #1 Obsession.

MENIFEE, CA – The last two weeks of August put us at the Josephine County Fair in Grants Pass, OR and the Evergreen State Fair in Monroe, WA. The Josephine County Fair celebrated its thirty years of Motorsports. The show was set up as a two night show. One night for tractor pulling and the other night was tough trucks. Both nights ended with the Fabtech Obsession closing the show. In all of the thirty years Grants Pass, OR has never seen a car stack for an obstacle even with them having trucks such Big Foot and Grave Digger in years past. On Saturday night the Fabtech Obsession was the first truck in the Fairs history to jump over a car stack. We had a great time in Grants Pass,OR. We would like to thank Randy and Sherry Smallwood and all of the rest of the crew for such a great time. Rick even got to meet Charlie Daniels and had his picture taken with him next to his truck. Rick stated that it wasn’t an event; it was a “happening”.

From Oregon he went to Monroe Washington. This was a two night event held on Thursday and Friday with nine trucks competing for WHR Motorsports. Thursday night we made it to the semi finals. It was a hard line of trucks to make it there when you have trucks like Bigfoot to compete with. Friday night started out to be good with Rick being second fastest qualifier. Rick figured it would the Fabtech Obsession versus Bounty Hunter in the finals. Unfortunately Rick was looking to far ahead and was unable to make it to the semi finals. Rick did come out to complete his freestyle event that night and with AmeriGas and James Duff in attendance he knew he had to do freestyle to wow the crowd and that he did accomplish.
